The Central Fire Station was constructed in 2016 and is located at 5000 Okemos Road. “So what will happen is for three and a half years, the last three and a half years remaining on the bond, the residents won't be paying that tax,” Meridian Township Manager Frank Walsh said. The accelerated payoff will save taxpayers more than $822,000 in principal and interest costs, according to a township press release.
